Friends of Care is an animal welfare organisation which cares for injured, neglected, and needy animals in McGregor and the surrounding areas. One of our aims is to create awareness of pet population control, through education and regular sterilisation programmes run from our own center at Ouplaas Farm. We also hold fortnightly animal clinics and occasional training events to teach local children the basics of pet care. All our work is implemented and overseen by Del Jones, Animal Welfare Officer, along with a team of volunteers.

Exciting news is that Friends of CARE has been accepted as a registered animal charity which will benefit from all purchases made at outlets honouring the My School, My Village, My Planet card initiated by Woolworths.
It costs card-holders nothing. So please fill in a form at your nearest Woolworths, and help CARE to care. We get a very small proportion of the "spend", but every little helps and it does mount up.
Three beneficiaries are allowed on each card, so if you already have a card, please consider adding CARE.
Our registered number with My School is 11546.

Feedback on the first of many days planned for a project in the new housing development in McGregor.
Ilana van der Colff (CARE Volunteer) accompanied Del Jones (CARE AWA) – it was supposed to be a cool day - but not!
Just a quick report back on what was accomplished -
5 full streets were walked and all animals were checked and seen in all 5 streets. Started at Bessiebos and finished at Kamkoe.
104 houses were checked in these streets a total of 81 animals were observed including 28 pigeons and 1 terrapin removed.
5 warnings were issued to owners to rectify certain conditions by next week and 6 instruction letters were issued to owners.
1 animal was euthanased due to the severity and condition of his mange. Some blankets were handed out at certain houses, 2 lots of dip were dispensed and 17 animals were booked for sterilisation.
Ilana was a star - pamphlets and papers were handed out. We now need to print the educational handouts, get the decals and perhaps we should look at a couple of hats in time with the logo little more professional??
It was a good afternoon good result and nice response from most of the residents.
